Baldow Glen, Lennoxtown in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland
A longish walk. Along easy forest roads at first, then down and up a very steep hill by the Glasgow Celtic training ground.
For SatNav, the nearest post code is G66 7AB.
Heading north out of Glasgow, take the A879 Balmore road, which eventually brings you to a roundabout just past the county sign for East Dunbartonshire. Turn right here on the Kirkintilloch road, follow this to the Torrance roundabout. Turn left into Torrance, then right at the traffic lights onto the B822. Follow this windy road to the 'T' junction at Lennoxtown, then turn left onto the A891. In the centre of Lennoxtown, turn left just past the Co-op, and follow this narrow road up a steep hill for about 2 miles, until you come to a car park at the end.
You can see a map of the route here.
From the car park,
head straight along the forestry road for about 250 yards, then follow it as it bends to the right.
After about another 200 yards, keep to the right at the road junction, and after another 200 yards or so you come to a junction on the left. If you like a bit of adventure and you are up to steep scrambles up a hill, turn left here.
Otherwise carry straight on and you will rejoin the route back to the car park.
So, if you turned left, follow this road for about 100 yards to the point where it loops to the left. Just here you will see a pathway off to the right. Take this path down hill, right down to the back of the Celtic training ground. When you reach a road, keep to the right and follow the road right to the South Lodge gates.
Here, just after you pass throug the gates, you will see a narrow path leading off uphill on your right.
Take this path and just head uphill, and at times it is a very steep scramble.
At the top you find the forestry roads again.
Turn left and follow the road back to your car.
The upper part of the walk should be disabled friendly
