Coming from the west, take one of the right turns signposted 'Hayton', then turn left in Hayton village, drive right along to Hayton Townhead, then left again, and you will see the parking area on your right at the end of the trees.

Take the path into the woods from the parking area
and follow this path through the woods,
then up and down over a small stream.
until you come to the main pathway that runs from Hayton Townhead.
Follow this path for some way uphill
until you come to a 'T' junction, where you turn left.
This path runs between field and trees, until it meets the bridle track at a crossroads.
Here, you have a choice. If you turn right up the bridle track, it eventually comes to a dead end.
If you turn left down the bridle track, you will soon be back at your car.
For a longer walk, take the pathway over the bridle track, downhill and through a gate. The pathway then runs alongside a sand quarry.
When you reach the end of this pathway at a road, you do have to retrace your steps back up to the bridle track, then turn right and so back to your car.
